The Senior D I G of Western Province Anura Senanayaka says that there will be 5000 police officers on duty today for the May Day celebrations and there will be a special traffic plan in the Colombo city limits.

He further said that some roads in Colombo will be closed today for a few hours as there are May Day rallies  along such roads.

Accordingly, from public library round—about  to Nelimpokuna round-about from 9 am till the end, from Ingram Junction of Baseline road to Borella from 11.00 am till the end, from Horton place Nelumpokuna junction to D S Senanayake Mawatha junction and from D S Senanayake Mawath to Borella from 12 noon until evening.

He further advised to take alternative roads for the vehicles running from Havelock road towards Negombo.  According to that, they can use IOC round-about,Flower road, Colpetty,  Galle Face, Pettah, Armour Street and  to the Negombo road through the Victoria Bridge and vice versa.
