Sanath Gunatilleke gets ordained as a Buddhist monk
The versatile film actor Sanath Gunatilleke has got ordained as a Buddhist monk as by the name of Hanguranketha Wimalaratana on last 22nd Thursday at the Bentara Sapugoda Sri Maha Viharaya.
On the August 22nd at the auspicious time of 7.22 am ,the ordination ceremony was conducted jointly by the Acting Maha Nayake of Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dhamma Maha Sanga Sabha and the Vice President of the Southern chapter Dr Iththepane Dhammlankara thero, Bentara Vihara Chapter Chief Sanga Nayake thera and the Secretary of the Judiciary committee Dediyawala Thilakasiri thera and committee Member, Chief Incumbent of the Nugegoda Nalandaramaya, Thiniyawala Palitha thero.
The Wimalaratana thero so ordained will for a period of one week of one week will be exclusively indulged in learning the formalities a newly ordained Bikkhu and from the 29th August will complete the initial ordained period which is the normal practice that has to undergo after ordaining.
When inquiries were made from the newly ordained Wimalaratana thero had stressed that he wants to study and obey all rules and conditions of a real Buddhist monk which would enable him to discharge in the role of a film he intends portraying to perfection with the knowledge he learns after been ordained.
