Expired drugs found from four private hospitals
A raid had been made by the Consumers Authority to the pharmacies at private hospitals and stores of drug dealers. They have found that six types of drugs were sold with expired dates. Four of these cases had been at private hospitals while the others had been in private pharmacies.
The raid had been carried out in Colombo, Gampaha and Galle districts. The officials of the consumer authority states that the expired drugs were saline, vaccines and some types of drugs. The authority intends filing legal action against them. It is learnt that this raid had been conducted on the instructions of the Minister of internal trade and cooperatives who had received several complaints and these raids it is learnt are to be continued. This had been advised to the consumer authority by the Minister.
