For the first time in Israeli history, a judge ordered a lesbian woman to pay alimony to her former partner.

The two women have been in a relationship for many years and they have one child, who they raise together.

Judge Esther Zhitnitsky Rakover has ordered the woman to pay alimony to support her former partner, according to a ruling by the Tel Aviv Family Court.

The two women were in a relationship for 21 years, during which they also held a marriage ceremony. During their life together, one of the women gave birth to a baby boy.

The child’s biological mother asked the court to order her former partner to pay alimony claiming that her former spouse considered the boy as her own.

After hearing evidence about their relationship, the court found that the respondent had filed for custody of the child after the two women were separated.

Judge Rakover determined in her ruling that it was in the child's best interests that both women maintain contact with the child. The judge ordered visitation rights for the lesbian partner and required her to pay alimony to her former lover.
