Ramadhan fasting begins tonight
Muslims in Sri Lanka will begin the Ramadhan fasting today as the new moon of the Holy Month of Ramadhan was sighted this evening in several parts of the country, the Colombo Grand mosque announced.
The decision to commence the month long fasting was taken at a meeting attended by the representatives of Jammiyyathul Ulema, trustees and Khatheebs of mosques in Colombo and suburbs and the representatives of the Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Department this evening, after the Maghrib prayers at the Grand Mosque.
