CCTV cameras for main cities

Moves are under way to install CCTV cameras in strategic locations in main cities across the country to ensure security and to prevent road accidents, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
CCTV cameras have already been fixed in several places in Colombo, Siyambalapitiya said. The Ministry has opened a Technical Institute at the Zonal Education Office, Kegalle for the benefit of a large number of Government officers, university students and youth, he said.
The Ministry, Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka and the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council have jointly set up this Institution. (Info Dept)
