A Buddhist Monk assaulted and pulled out a private bus
A Monk assaulted and pulled out of a bus, but the driver and conductor had been caught and arrested
A Buddhist Monk had been travelling in a Embiliptiya bound bus from Colombo had been assaulted and been pulled out of a private bus it is reported. In this regard the conductor and the driver of the bus have been arrested by the Police.
The Monk Ven.Sevanagala Gnanawimala Thera had been admitted to the Kahawatta Base hospital for treatment.
The thera had alighted to the bus from the Pelmadulla main bus halt. He had been assaulted between the Pelmadulla and Kahawatta area.
The assaulted monk said that is the Incumbent monk of the Pahakaduwa temple and for a official matter he travels to Pelmadulla daily. That particular after his official duties had alighted in to the private in which I travel daily around 11,40 a.m.
When the monk got into the bus there was one seat reserved for the Buddhist clergy. I sat there and paid Rs 100/- for my bus fare .The conductor had given him the balance of Rs 40/-As the ticket was that legible he had requested for a fresh ticket. For his request he had not agreed and had started scolding him saying that you a Buddhist monk. He had said yes. The driver who was in front inquired as to what was the argument was.
The driver stopped the bus had taken a pole from under the seat and assaulted him. Then two other friends also cane to the scene and they together assaulted the Monk, who had tried to prevent been attacked.
The Monk who was pulled out of the footboard had asked what harm he committed. There was a pupil in the bus who had taken him to Police station and the Police had been able to stop the bus at Godakawela and had arrested the driver and the conductor.
