A person has been arrested in Warakapola for allegedly taking money from women after promising to marry them. The police arrested the person after receiving a report that he had taken Rs. 57,000 from a woman.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had placed marriage proposals in newspapers, engaged in affairs and then taken money from the women. The police stated that they had previously received multiple complaints on the individual.

The suspect is under custody until the 1st of February after which he will be presented to the Thulhiriya Magistrate’s Court.
