Police dogs to use cameras
The police department is to implement plans to equip police dogs used in investigations with the latest camera equipment, police spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody told us.
He further stated that they plan to commence a pilot project from February next year.
“Currently we are in the process of studying the possibility of fixing cameras onto the collar of the dogs used in investigations, whereas the footage can be used as evidence, in our investigations.”
However he further added that currently the project is being looked into, and the final decision will only be made once the proposal is approved.
