Schools colours awards on Oct 25
The 19th annual Schools Colours award ceremony, organized by Education Ministry and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Limited, the distributors of ‘Milo’, is scheduled to be held on October 25 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The award ceremony commences at 2.00 p.m.
444 school boys and girls, representing 33 disciplines, will receive national school colours for their excellent show on the sporting arena.
There will also be special awards for sports stars that represented the country at International events and also who reached national level.
The recipients for these awards were nominated by the different Associations and after a thorough perusal by a competent panel the winners decided said the Director of Sports Ministry of Education Rohan Karunaratne.
Karunaratne said that Nestle Lanka Ltd. has been the main brain behind this awards presentation and if not for their generous contribution this would not have been in existence. He further added that he was involved with the Awards ceremony since its inception and this will be his final appearance as the director of the ministry and the event as he is due to retire next month.
He paid a great tribute to the sponsor Nestle Lanka Ltd. and all media organizations for the support extended during the last 20 years for the success of this awards ceremony.
The chief guest at the ceremony will be the Minister of Education, Bandula Goonewardene, while the chairman of Nestle Lanka Ltd. Alois Hofbour will be in attendance as the guest of honor.
