Miss SL for Miss Universe 2013
The preliminary rounds for the prestigious Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2013 crown are underway. The pageant which has seen astonishing successes in the past, producing prime ambassadors of the country heralded good omens for this edition too at the very outset, with applications numbering to over a 100.
The preliminary rounds which were worked out during the last couple of weeks saw strong potential with the judges unanimously agreeing that the all important factor of intelligence was a strong presence in this year’s contestants. The prestigious panel included the likes of Lou Ching Wong - Choreographer, Rosita Wickremesinghe – National Director for Miss Universe Inc., Rayka Jayasuriya – Contestant Manager, Kamini Mukunthan – Media Co-ordinator alongside Danu Innasithamby and Minusha Wickremesinghe as part of the creative team.
The preliminary rounds are focused on selecting the 10 finalists out of the applications that were shortlisted for interviews and the judges are enthusiastic about the quality of contestants participating in this year’s pageant. Pictured in the group photo by Ruvin de Silva are the contestants.

We had a high amount of applications reaching over 100, so I’m very happy about the response this year. The contestants are all of a very educated background and I think we have a strong set of contenders this year. - Rosita Wickremesinghe
I work very closely with the contestants, as the contestant manager and I think this year we have a very good level of competition. All the contestants are well educated which is vital in the latter parts of the competition. I think we will see a lot of potential through the course of the competition. - Rayka Jayasuriya
We have some great participants and I’m very happy about how it has worked out even in this early stage. We’re hoping to produce the first Miss Universe from Sri Lanka and I think it looks very good at this point. - Minusha Wickremesinghe
