The cigarette company could be sued for compensation if someone dies of smoking
The annual deaths by smoking are 21,600 in Sri Lanka. When starting the world anti smoking day in 1988, the death around the world was 20 lakhs.
It has been increased up to 60 lakhs in the year 2012.
The aim of Swarnahansa foundation is building a power of people to eradicate it was emphasized by M/s Punyawardena.
Kanishka Witharana, the lawyer of the 1st cigarettes compensation summit said that if someone dies by smoking it is possible to sue against the company and their kith and kin can get compensation from the company.
