CMC to raid night food shops in Colombo
The Colombo Municipal Council has directed its attention towards the temporary shops serving prepared foods only during the night within the city of Colombo.
These temporary food stalls have gained immense popularity within the city, however a large number of complaints have also been received regarding them, the CMC’s health department said.
Especially concerning the quality of the food items served by these food stalls, it said.
Therefore health authorities of the Colombo Municipal Council will carry out raids on these locations within coming week and food samples will be obtained.
Strict legal action will be taken against venders selling unhealthy food or maintaining unsanitary conditions, the CMC said.
