Measures are underway to open the second section of the Southern Expressway from Pinnaduwa (Galle) to Godagama (Matara) by the end of next year.

Southern Expressway

Project Director Nimal Chandrasiri told the Daily News that Sri Lanka's first expressway (E-01), connecting the country's capital city and the Southern Provincial city, Matara via major cities of the Western and Southern Provinces is ready for full operation by the end of next year with the completion of the second stage.

About 35 percent of the construction work under phase two from Pinnaduwa to Godagama has already been completed.
