Minister of Power and Energy Champika Ranawaka says that measures will be taken to ensure that the country has a strong power system, by October next year.

He made this pledge at an event held at the Sri Rajagiri Viharaya in Kotahera, Avissawella.

The Annual Prize Giving of the Dhamma School at the Sri Rajagiri Viharaya was held Saturday under the auspices of Minister Champika Ranawaka.

He shared these thoughts in that event.

’From 1990 to 2005, no power plants were built by the state. When the need to impose, power cuts arose, they obtained more power from the private sector. Power cuts also became a racket in this country. It is very easy today, to draw cartoons about the Minister and officials and reprimand the government. But, the individuals in the past, who engaged in political embezzlement and led the country astray, must bear the responsibility for the power crisis. We have now ceased power cuts. We will work towards establishing a strong power system by October next year.’
