There is a case pending for Vass for assaulting a SLIIT student
The former DIG Vass Gunawardena had mercilessly assaulted a student of the Sri Lanka Institute of technology ( SLIT) The student Nipuna Dhanushka Ramanayake and her mother had forced the Attorney General to file action under a ‘Vandarmus’ writ application against ex DIG Vass Gunawardena.
When there were charges against him the Attorney General had failed to file legal action at that time. The duties of the Attorney General have not been carried out in this case. In this case a petition has been file in the Supreme courts.
The Mother of the boy had received a call that her son had been arrested in the Athurugiriya Police station. When she went to the Police station she had been requested to the Police Headquarters. The petitioner is a resident of Ratnapura ,Lellolpitiya, Dippitigoda R.Gnanalatha Ramanayake.it is learnt that the petitioners son had been mercilessly assaulted for assaulting the ex DIG’s son. The petitioners son after he was mercilessly assaulted had been handed over to her. She has admitted the son to the hospital where he had to be treated for two weeks.
