Skype has pushed its free video messaging across all platforms. Starting June 17, Skype introduced its free messaging service where a user can record audio and video messages to his relatives or friends, irrespective of their online status.
The feature was available as a Beta version and later introduced on Windows.
But now it is available across all platforms, including iOS, Android and Blackberry.
The feature not only allows a user to record the video but also lets you review and re-record before you can post it to the other party.
Making the announcement in its official blog post, Skype said: “We’re excited to announce that video messaging is now coming out of preview as a full-fledged (and free!) feature in Skype for Windows desktop, Skype for Windows 8, Skype for Mac, Skype for iPhone, Skype for iPad, Skype for Android and Skype for BlackBerry.
Interestingly Windows Phone users will not be able to use the feature immediately. The feature will only be rolled out to Windows Phone users at a later date.
“Just like the millions of users around the world who have already previewed video messaging, you too can now record and share a personal video message, even when your friends and loved ones are not available. The best part is that they’ll be able to view your video message as soon as they sign into Skype,” it said.
However vide messages can only be up to three minutes long. Those who want to send a longer message can always record a second video.
Also note that a user can only send up to 21 free video messages. You will have a premium subscription to send unlimited messages.
