Son breaks into his mother’s home, steals Rs.5 lakhs jewelry
The stolen jewelry was recovered by police from a jewelry shop in the Chilaw town after the suspects had reportedly pawned them.
The woman had filed a complaint with police stating that certain individuals had broken into her house in Rideewella, Chilaw on December 08 through the front window and stolen jewelry amounting to around Rs.483,500.
The unsolved crimes investigation unit of the Chilaw Police apprehended the woman’s son following extensive investigations and uncovered further information regarding the robbery after interrogating him.
Three of his friends were then arrested along with a friend’s mother who allegedly helped them to pawn the stolen jewelry. Four of the arrested suspects are residents of Chilaw while one is from Eluwankulama.
Chilaw Police is conducting further investigations.
