The Deyata Kirula National Exhibition which was scheduled to be held from the 4th to 10th of February in Ampara has been postponed. The Exhibition is now scheduled to be held from 23rd March to 29th March.

Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya addressing a special media conference conveyed yesterday to announce the postponement of the Exhibition said that yet many areas of the Ampara District are inundated and hence it has become impossible to complete many of the infrastructure work that was scheduled to be carried out before the Exhibition.

The Minister emphasized that the government has no intention to complete these work in a haphazard manner just for holding the exhibition as it is the objective of the government to complete them according to accepted standards since these infrastructure facilities are planned to be used on a long term basis.

Mr. Siyambalapitiya said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has also instructed him to postpone the exhibition and complete the proposed infrastructure work according to the accepted standards. (Info Dept)
