Deepika Padukone - Amitabh Bachchan's dinner date
Deepika Padukone was in for a pleasant surprise recently. She had Amitabh Bachchan knock at her door and announce, 'Are you wearing your clothes? I am coming in'.
It so happened that Deepika and Big B were shooting at the same premise on Thursday — Dips was shooting for Race 2 and Big B for an ad. Deepika was not only over the moon, but also thanked him for attending a felicitation programme of players recently in Mumbai on the invitation of the Olympics Gold Quest (OGQ).
Big B in one of his blogs had written that he would be interested in supporting sports in any way and thus while the OGQ sent him a mail inviting him, they also requested Deepika to put in a word. "He responded immediately even though we gave him very little time," said Deepika. "While Amitji, as always, kept his commitment and went for the felicitation ceremony, I could not make it because I had committed myself to being at the premiere of my Ram Leela director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.
Amitji told me 'I got fully taiyaar to have dinner with you but you were not there' so I told him 'Sir this weekend, you and I will have dinner alone."Bachchan holds a very special place in her life. "Once you play father and daughter in a film (as they did in Aarakshan), you always share a bond for life. I remember the first guests at my new flat were Jayaji and Amitji. Jayaji spoke to me about my film and told me that I reminded her of her daughter," recounted Deepika.
