Priyanka Chopra's father critical
Priyanka Chopra has been keeping a low profile for a while. Her last public appearance was at an UNICEF event on May 28 where she had lashed out at Mallika Sherawat for portraying India in a poor light at Cannes. A few days earlier, on May 23, she was spotted at Vaishnodevi Temple, where she went barefoot and participated in a yajna to pray for her father's health.
TOI has learnt that the actress has parked herself at a suburban hospital for the past six days, where her ailing father, Dr Ashok Chopra, is being treated. His condition is reportedly very critical. And the whole family is at the hospital. Even Priyanka's brother, Siddharth Chopra, has flown down from abroad, where he is studying.
A source revealed: "Doctor Chopra's condition is very, very serious at this moment. He has been put on a respirator. Priyanka has kept all her work aside and is next to her father 24X7." Piyanka's father has been in and out of the hospital ever since he was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. Only recently, after spending a brief while at the hospital, he paid a surprise visit on the sets of the Zanjeer remake, where PeeCee was shooting.
"Earlier, Priyanka would visit her father every day while he was in the hospital. But, this time she hasn't budged from his side since he was wheeled in to the hospital early this week. She is even eating at the canteen there."
During her hour of crisis, PeeCee's friends are rallying around her. Shah Rukh Khan, who is still recuperating from the shoulder surgery he underwent on May 28, dropped by to check on Dr Chopra.
Also spotted at the hospital among others were Shristi Arya--one of PeeCee's best friends in the industry and sister of producer Goldie Behl; Apoorva Lakhia, who is directing the actress on theZanjeer remake; Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Omung Kumar, whom she has teamed up with in the Mary Kom biopic; Tarun Mansukhani, a friend since they worked together in Dostana.
