President calls the teacher who was ordered to kneel down by the Member of PC
The President had this morning contacted the teacher Sushila Herath of Nawagaththtegam Navodya School who had been asked to kneel down by the Member of Wyamba Provincial Council, Ananda Sarath Kumara for punishing his daughter for wearing short frocks to school.
The president had said that he will conduct an investigation and do justice to her.
It is learnt that today there had been a protest against the action of the Provincial Council Member in front of the school. In order to disperse the crowd and have a peaceful environment the school had been closed by the related authorities.
“A group of prefects of the school are given orders to inspect the uniforms the girls who attend schools and any defects had to be brought my notice as I am the teacher in charge of this exercise and the prefects who are assigned to do this” had quipped by her.
“ At that time a number of girls had worn short frocks. Then the edges were loosened to make them look longer. Among these students the Members daughter was also included in this group.. When the Member heard this news he came to the school with a pole. He scolded me in filth in front of everyone. I was asked to kneel down. I got up after about five minutes. Then he wanted me to kneel down again” was quipped by the teacher Priyani Sushila Herath quipped the teacher regarding the incident.
