IPL is not that pleasant as Sangakkara believes-Arjuna
The IPL is not that pleasant as Sangakkara emphasizes Arjuna Ranatunga the Member of parliament and the 1996 world cup winning captain
It the IPL is not paying a lucrative sum our players will not sacrifice so much to participate in the IPL tournament at the risk of their lives. I regret very muchfor the loss of the pride and the prestige of our country’
The participation of 10 cricketers from SrI Lanka in the IPL tournament despite so much of protests is condemned by the Member of Parliament for the ‘Democratic Freedom Alliance and the former Sri Lankan skipper of the world cup 1996 Arjuna Ranatunga had quipped.
This is not a tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. It is organised by some film stars and businessmen with the sole intention of earning money and to make them wealthier under the patronage of the BCCI.
This had caused an embarrassment and a loss of our country’s pride. The SLC has to take the blame and irresponsibility. The SLC to take a decision they do not have a proper backbone. I regret for cricketer in the calibre and with immense knowledge with like Sangakkara for not listening to the protests and been unable to understand our stand.
Our cricketers had lost their sights in front of the offers of bundles of dollars belonging to the millionaire Indian film stars. This is a disgrace for cricket. It is not so pleasant as Sangakkara quips In this conflict they have not changed their stand. Chennai is also within India. According to Arjuna he is very surprised about the decision the IPL bound cricketers defying the pleas from several quarters.
Arjuna claims that in this type of situation he and his colleagues never played cricket. We always kept our country first and in forward. The traditions that were brought about by the players’ earlier need to be preserved. We never played cricket amidst criticisms and shame. But unfortunately the past traditions had been broken for which we regret very much Arjuna further emphasised.
