Weapons found after vehicle sped through checkpoint

A SUV vehicle along with two locally manufactured firearms found inside it have been taken into custody by Bandarawela Police. 

The suspicious vehicle had sped through a police checkpoint in Punagala last night disobeying orders by police officers to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle was later tracked down and discovered in the Punagala Estate area in Bandarawela while the two firearms were found inside it.

Investigations are underway to arrest the suspect according to several documents found inside the vehicle, Bandarawela Police said.
