Processions were held in Australia, appealing for the release of Rajani, a Sri Lankan Tamil woman from Jaffna who is seeking asylum. She is a mother of three children, and is being kept in detention, indefinitely.

Security Agency (ASIO) of Australia has warned she would be a threat to national security, and on this basis, the Tamil woman and 55 others are being kept under detention.

A candle light awareness protest was held on 10 May (Friday) in Sydney, Melbourne, Ronda Nok, Browns Vick, Botchery and Wilavood, to seek their release.

Processions had been also organized in Perth, Lait, New Castle, Darn, Brisbane, Kellogg, Pollard and Wonthaaki.
Reports indicate that Ranjani who has been in detention for the past one year, had given birth to a baby while being in detention.
