15-year-old commits suicide
A 15-year-old student from Ududumbara, had set herself on fire on Monday (29), around 12 noon.
The girl, studying in a secondary school at Ududumbara, had managed to enter an abandoned house in the vicinity, and had committed suicide by self-immolation. Her body had been subsequently found by the Ududumbara Police.
Sources said her parents had warned her against continuing an affair with her boyfriend.
Acting District Judge, Sarath Premakumara, visited the abandoned house and conducted the magisterial inquiry. He directed the Judicial Medical Officer of the Kandy General Hospital, Dr. A.B. Seniviratna, to conduct the post mortem, and directed the OIC of the Ududumbara Police to submit the report to Court.
Further investigations are being conducted to ascertain how the girl had an injury on her head, which the police said has aroused some suspicions on the cause of death.
