British Airways is delighted to announce its newest long-haul route to Colombo, Sri Lanka beginning Monday, 15 April 2013. The thrice weekly frequency via Male would be operated by a Boeing 777-200 in a three class configuration offering flat beds in Club World, our premium economy, World Traveller plus and World Traveller seats. The announcement marks British Airways’ much awaited return to Sri Lanka after over 17-years.

To commemorate the launch, British Airways has introduced an attractive offer on return fares between Colombo and London starting from only LKR 98,579.  The exclusive offer is available for sale until 21 April 2013 for outbound travel period from 08 April to 31 July 2013.

Commenting on this significant launch, Christopher Fordyce, Regional Commercial Manager, South Asia said, "We are proud to announce British Airways’ reopening of the route between London Gatwick and Colombo and welcome the paradise island of Sri Lanka to British Airways’ unmatched global network. Sri Lanka has emerged as one of the most popular destinations among leisure and business travellers.”

“Sri Lanka offers immense opportunities and scope in tourism and economic growth particularly for the small and medium enterprises segment.  This is such an exciting route for us and we are thrilled to return to Sri Lanka and flying from this excellent, commercially important destination once again."

Customers flying from Colombo will travel through British Airways' dedicated check-in area at Gatwick North Terminal, where new technology allows them to check-in faster and enjoy more relaxing time before their flight.

The airline has committed to spend more than £5 billion globally on customer products and services over the next five years. The investment will see British Airways customers benefiting from new aircraft, new World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins, a revamped First class, significant improvements at Gatwick and better lounges around the airline’s network.
