Three Bogambara prisoners in rooftop protest

Three inmates are staging a hunger strike on the roof of the Bogambara Prison demanding that authorities carry out the death penalty against them.

It is reported that the inmates had engaged in the protest since this morning.  

The two Sinhalese and one Tamil prisoner, who have been imprisoned over murder cases, demand that the death penalty be implemented.

Bogambara Prison superintendent Tissa Jayasinghe stated that they are currently attempting to discuss the matter the inmates bring them down from the roof.
