Four men arrested for raping actress
Four men, including two Air Force personnel, were arrested on Wednesday (2) on the charge of raping a popular drama actress in Negombo.
The incident had taken place around 1:00 a.m. on 1 January, when the victim was returning after a musical show. She is receiving treatment at hospital.
The actress, who had separated from her husband around six months ago, had been staying at a residence in Kadirana, where the suspects too are said to be tenants.
According to police, it was an Air Force person who had raped her first, after which the three others had joined in.
Air Force Spokesperson, Group Captain Shiraz Jaldeen, confirmed that the two Air Force personnel were arrested and said disciplinary action will be taken against then after a court ruling is given.
The suspects were produced before the Negombo Magistrate, and were ordered to be remanded until 15 January.
