Senior Google regional boss in Sri Lanka

A top official of Google, an information technology company will be in Sri Lanka on a chief executive officer's briefing organized by the island's IT industry.

SLASSCOM, Sri Lanka's IT and software chamber, said Ann Lavin, director, policy and government affairs, Greater China and Asian growth markets, Google, will deliver the keynote speech in at its 'CXO Breakfast Briefing' on September 05.
The forum "seeks to learn from the successes and failures of the implementation of policies concerning the internet around the region and its impact on innovation and economic growth of those countries," SLASSCOM said.
Lavin focuses on issues including economic empowerment, content regulation, geopolitics, privacy and general technology policy.
Before joining Google, Lavin was a senior advisor with McLarty Associates, a US-based strategic advisory firm and vice president of the US-ASEAN Business Council, a key US business organization in Southeast Asia.
SLASSCOM said this event will be free and seats will be given on a first come first served basis.
Jayantha Fernando, program director at Information and Communications Technology Agency, Sriganesh Lokanathan, research manager, LIRNEasia and Malik Ranasinghe, professor in civil engineering at the University of Moratuwa will be panelists.

Madu Ratanayake, chairman SLASSCOM and senior vice president Virtusa will moderate the sessions.
