Colombo-Katunayake Expressway complete by September
Work on the 290 million US. dollar Colombo-Katunayake Expressway project which was started in 2009 is to be completed by September this year.
The Expressway is 25.1 kilometres in length, 25.4 metres in width and has 4 lanes. It will take motorists around 20 minutes to reach Colombo. The expressway is expected to provide a rapid boost for industrial expansion at the Katunayake Industrial Zone and to the tourist industry.
It will have five interchanges at New Kelani Bridge, Peliyagoda, Kerawalapitiya, Ja-Ela and Katunayake, The flyover at Kerawelapitiya is 480 metres in length.
Ports and Highways Project Minister Nirmala Kothalawala inspected the construction work of the Colombo-Katunayaka Expressway recently.
