YouTube to introduce paid subscriptions for some video channels: Reports

The world's largest video sharing site, reportedly, is very close to launching a paid subscription model for some of its exclusive video channels.

Earlier in February 2013, Youtube is said to have confirmed to a leading technology website that it was in the process to develop a service for paid subscription but at that point the top video sharing site did not indicate as to when it could launch such service.

Now, leading technology websites report that the launch of Youtube paid subscription may happen as early as next week.

With this new paid service, the Google-owned video site will have one more revenue stream. According to a leading newspaper, the paid subscription service of Youtube could be launched with 50 youtube channels providing subscription to exclusive video content for $1.99 a month.

Despite buzz around the possible launch of YouTube paid subscriptions, there is no official announcement by the Google. (Janith Dilshan)
