Google launches internet safety campaign in Sri Lanka
Google, the multinational corporation has joined hands with Sri Lanka's Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) and the Ministry of Child Development and Women's Affairs to launch its 'Good to Know' Internet safety campaign.
The campaign will be launched on 29th November at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. It intends to raise awareness among Sri Lankan users about how to stay safe online through the 'Good To Know' website.
The Good to Know campaign aims to help people stay safe on the Internet and manage the information they share online to discuss the safe use of the Internet.
Minister of Child Development and Women's Affairs Tissa Karalliyadde, Program Director of ICTA Wasantha Deshapriya and Country Lead, Public Policy & Government Affairs, Southeast Asia at Google Mike Orgill will participate in the ceremony on Thursday to launch the safety campaign.
Around 150 representatives from student leaders, government officials, media, teachers, NGOs' and other stakeholders have been invited for the event, according to a media statement.
A trilingual website would be launched to commemorate the commencement of this campaign. The 'Good To Know' campaign website is http://www.google.com/goodtoknow/
